OPTIONS

One of the first discussions with my gynecologist included three or four options for treating my medical problem: excessive bleeding and fibroids.

  1. Lupron Depot injections
  2. Uterine Fibroid Embolism
  3. D and C
  4. Hysterectomy
The injections were a good option but not recommended on a continuous basis. Overall I had it for close to two years. At some point in between I went in to the specialist who performs UFE and was told I am not a candidate for this procedure. A D & C was not an option to me, since I had done this procedure prior to this time and had redeveloped the condition again. Hysterectomy was discussed, but not viewed as an option, at least, not to me. I wanted to explore other options first. Because I thought hysterectomy to be too final.
